Kenya – September 09 – 21, 2018

Watch a video from the Mission Trip to Kenya

We were excited! To be going back to Kenya, now for the 7th time, and to connect with leaders and friends we have made over the years heightened our anticipation for what God would do next!
We were not disappointed.

On our first day, we set up a tent at the Overcomers ministry to host another medical camp. Everything was carefully placed: the registration area, the nurses’ stations, the doctor and pharmacy area, and finally the prayer section. Everyone who came with a medical concern was prayed for.

Olive Holm and Evelyn Franklin saw almost 200 people – many with simple, yet concerning, problems due to the inaccessibility of over-the-counter medication.
In the following days, we hosted Pastors’ Wives gatherings where we affirmed the women in their calling.
We had a first-time visit to the Kenya Medical Training College and were able to be with some 200 students. Sharing our faith was encouraged and welcomed.

Our 3rd Peer Care Retreat was held at a Catholic Retreat Centre with eight Women Together team members. The leaders were from various vocations but all had a desire to grow as leaders and fulfill their God-given calling to women. Our prayer time was very meaningful.

We visited a new area, Kisii, and hosted a Women’s Conference and a Pastors’ Wives gathering. What joy to welcome women leaders from various churches in Kisii. The spiritual teaching, leadership training, and medical instructions were gratefully received. This area in Kenya, about a 3-hour drive from Kisumu, is ripe for greater development with women.
We also hosted a medical clinic in a Kisumu slum area. Men, women, and children came all day to see the Canadian nurses and to have prayer. Our two women’s events in Kisumu were special when we could pour into the women and have prayer together.

Contagious Joy Armenia -July 31, 2018

August 23, 2018 Leave a Comment

Visiting a new country can be daunting. As the Women Together team embarked on a first-time trip to Armenia, they were filled with questions: What should we expect? Who will we meet? What we learn? What will be the result of our visit?

Three women embarked on the journey to Armenia: Veronika Nuzhna (Women Together Ukraine Co-ordinator), Elena Gomela (Bible College Professor from Ukraine), and Margaret Gibb (Women Together Executive Director). The team was immediately put at ease when they arrived at the Yerevan airport and were greeted by two smiling young women holding a welcoming sign.

Veronika, Elena, and Margaret were delighted to meet many women who gathered outside of Yerevan for Women Together’s first retreat in Armenia. The retreat was coordinated by Manooshak Keshishian, a leader in her local church. The retreat was a special time of training, sharing, prayer, worship, and relationship-building. A memorable moment was at the end of the retreat when the women began dancing to some uplifting Armenian music! Their joy was contagious!

The women of Armenia want more of God and want to do more for God! They are beautiful women, ready and longing to be encouraged, equipped, and empowered to fulfill their calling in their nation.

We learned, like in all countries, that when God gets a women’s heart, He gets everything.

We are looking forward to much more involvement in the beautiful nation of Armenia!

Peer Care Retreat April 26, 2018

June 18, 2018 1 Comment

On Thursday April 26, 2018, six women from various parts of Ontario left their busy lives to come apart for twenty-four hours, and gathered at the beautiful Hardwood B & B in Listowel. This Women Together program provides time away to foster friendships, to enjoy fellowship, to pray for one another, listen to God’s voice and more.

Teresa Foell, surprised at the openness of the participants, sums it up this way:
“I have been to Peer Care retreats twice and have been totally blessed. I love the prayer for one another and the shared love and support that happens.”

Brenda Tursa –
“I find the Peer Care Retreats very meaningful; a time to relax and focus reflectively as we listen for God’s voice through the prayers and insights from others and our own personal time spent with God. It is what a retreat should be; a time set apart.”

Chris Dolman-
It was a very liberating time being able to share with other women who also hold leadership positions. Being among peers I found a freedom to be me without having to be the ‘leader.’

I discovered the value of taking time out of the busyness of life for a bit of spiritual self care.

I felt honoured, humbled and privileged to be able to minister to other women who were trusting enough to open up their hearts and talk about their needs.

I have found that words prayed over me have impacted me big time! The words ‘Be Still’ have continued to be before, during and since the retreat. As they were prayed over me on the retreat they found a place in my heart where they are not easily ignored now!

There was a lot of power in the prayer times.Holy Spirit was definitely present and ministering through his servants.

In a nutshell – fantastic food fun and fellowship!

I’m sure there are all kinds of other things I could say but words are failing me at the moment so I hope this helps! Oh and when’s the next one?

Women look forward to the ongoing opportunity that a PCR offers, discovering the ‘coming back to recharge’ an important date to mark on their calendar.

Ukraine April 18 – May 2

It was a highly-anticipated trip! What will develop next? Margaret Gibb, Founder and Director of Women Together, asked herself. This visit to Ukraine would be her 10th trip to the nation of her family roots.

“I wanted to see again the hunger among Christian women in leadership and the fruit of several years of developing Women Together,” said Margaret. “I was not disappointed but rather saw greater release of gifts and abilities in the leadership and an evident passion to provide a ministry to women throughout the nation of Ukraine and beyond.”

Carol Ann Hurtubise, a dynamic leader from Pembroke Ontario, joined Margaret Gibb and Veronika Nuzhna (Women Together Ukraine Coordinator) for two incredible weeks of ministry. They spoke at women’s conferences in Poltava and Krivoy Rog, hosted seminars for pastors’ wives, met with key leaders, and spoke at Sunday church services.

One of the key gatherings was Women Together’s 2nd annual Connect Leadership School—a weekend of leadership training, prayer, and empowering women to lead! The Connect Leadership School was held in a beautiful hotel in the Carpathian Mountains in Western Ukraine. Registration opened February 12, and in only 1 1/2 days all 95 spots were filled! Women came from 18 hours away to attend. They represented 17 cities and 23 churches! They were eager to take notes as each speaker poured into them.

A memorable moment was when 95 registrants at the Connect Leadership School had communion and prayer on a mountainside. It was a holy experience as women, surrounded by the beauty of nature, lifted their spiritual eyes and saw more for themselves as leaders in Ukraine.

Carol Ann Hurtubise, a first-time guest to Ukraine said: “It was an amazing two weeks. Life-changing!”

For the Christian women of Ukraine, we are anticipating more…much more!
