The sounds of the waterfall, sun shining on the rain, the glory and splendor of ripened fields, the majesty of the mountains, the awesomeness of the petal of a flower; there is something healing about it all.
The great designer looked at His work and said it was good.
Driving through a beautiful scenic route at night can only offer us a silhouette of our surroundings. It has little meaning. I remember the first time coming through the Prairies. It was night and we were heading towards Winnipeg from North Dakota. It was a two-lane highway and there seemed to be what looked like water on both sides of the road only to discover it was wheat fields!!
Light is essential to appreciate our surroundings. The sun must shine to bring out the color.
As light is sorted through a prism it will form a color spectrum made of three primary colors, Red/orange, yellow/green, blue/violet. Out of these come all the colors we enjoy. A computer will boast there are 16 million of them.
On a spiritual level it is interesting to note that when you take the fullness of the Godhead, Father, Son and Holy Spirit you will have a clear revelation of light.
Jesus said, I am the light of the world, if you will follow me you will not walk in darkness. You will have complete satisfaction of what you see around you.
Jesus also said you are the light of the world.
Look at the production of light. Light is emitted from bodies that have been heated until they glow. The heat gives the atoms more energy than they normally have and the excess energy is radiated as light.
The only way we can be light is to be saturated with His light to the point that the light of Jesus is emitted in and through us and we are filled with his thoughts, ways wisdom and understanding and can color our world with his love, compassion and beauty.
The light that comes from him through us can never be about who we are or how good we have become. We are all card-carrying members of the imperfect human community who have been touched by the unconditional love of Jesus who has shed his glorious light upon our lives so that we can reveal his boundless mercy.
This light will empower us to suffer, endure, partake off and be moved in the depths of our being for the hunger, nakedness, loneliness, pain, and failed dreams of our brothers and sisters in the human family. There is nothing that Jesus does not understand about the heartache that hangs like a cloud over the valley of history.
The compassion of Christ will be played out in us, with the invalid parent, rebellious child, cantankerous boss, through disappointments, failures and loss of loved ones.
Let us color our world so that they will see our good works and glorify our Father who is in heaven.
