I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity. This is good and pleases God our Savior. 1 Timothy 2:1-3
We are living in challenging days when the news and social media converges to the point where it can cause us to question our political, social and religious views. Media content needs critical scrutiny to decipher what is fear mongering and what is truth.
We cannot ignore the pain in the world and the increasing amount of suffering and evil. Neither can we assume that God will take care of it on His own or try to escape reality and dismiss it as if everything will be ok. It is essential for us to engage 1 Timothy 2:1-3 as part of our prayer routine.

This prayer becomes personal as we are reminded to pray for specific people and circumstances.
Father God I come to you with thanksgiving in my heart for my family who you have entrusted to my care. I thank you for bringing the right people into their lives to influence them towards the things of God and for using them to be lights in this dark world. For my friends that you have so richly blessed me with. For my co-workers that I work alongside of every day. May the light and love of Jesus be seen in me. May peace, health and contentment be theirs.
I pray for those who direct us. Our federal, provincial and civic leaders. May they give us right direction. For our church leaders and pastors and priests in every place of worship in our community. May their ears be open to hear from you. We pray for Christian organizations, charitable works, our doctors without borders and others as your Holy spirit brings to mind. For men and women of great influence in our world, we ask you to help them and intercede on their behalf.
Father we pray for those in the entertainment and sports world who have such great influence on our youth that you would strengthen those who are willing to take their stand as followers of Christ. We give you thanks for all of those who can through their financial ability make a difference in our world. We pray for people who influence us in the news media and journalists who risk their lives and go into unsafe territories to endeavor to give us the truth.
May we never forget the vulnerable, the poor, the needy in our community and around the world. We pray for the displaced who have lost their entire livelihood through war and crime. Help us to do unto them as you have taught us that if we do so we do it to you.
Father God I ask for your blessing to be upon me. That you would bless and enlarge my boundaries of influence for your honor and glory. That my thoughts would be fixed upon what is true, lovely, pure, noble and admirable and that you will supply all my needs according to your riches in glory.
