Be The Leader Who Never Gives Up!
Justine Nagawa
The past couple of months have not been quite exciting for me. I’ve battled with giving up on so many things including my ministry work, friendships, family and so many other things that used to bring me joy. Yet in these months, the words “Never Give Up” have rang the loudest in my mind. Galatians 6:9 reminds us, “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”
Moses worked on his project of leading Israel to the Promised Land for forty years. That's a long time for one project. But Noah bettered Moses by three times that. Becoming a people and person God can use is a life-long endeavor. Paul says the crown of life is reserved for those who will, fight the fight, finish the course and keep the faith. Jesus told the churches in Revelation 2:10, “Be faithful unto death, and I will give you the crown of life.”
As Christian leaders, our walk with God and others should be of perseverance, of keeping-on and keeping-on. Did Noah become discouraged? I'm sure he did, but he never gave up. Discouragement is still one of Satan's most powerful weapons. He discourages us:
Through problems. Have you ever known a good work that didn't involve problems? Rest assured that Satan will cause problems in anything good that we are called to do.
By pressure. Noah was under pressure of size and time. Think about the enormity of the project, a hundred and twenty years may seem like a long time, but maybe not to build a boat the size of a football field.
Satan uses people to discourage us. There are always those you wish would join in, but don't. There are those who stand on the sideline questioning and criticizing instead of encouraging and edifying.
In all these circumstances, we need to never give up. Right now, the Lord is searching the earth for somebody He can use. He’s searching for the one who perseveres. Do His eyes stop on us?
Think about that!
