Do You Trust Me?

Frustration mounted as I realized there wasn’t anything I could humanly do to bring about the outcome of my heart’s desire. Walking along the river’s edge, I quietly poured out my heart to the Lord.
The gentle whisper of His voice nudged me, “Am I good?”
“Of course, You are!” I responded fiercely, almost offended by the question.
His tender voice persisted, “Do you trust me?” My answer caught in my throat. If I truly believed He was good, then it would go without saying that I trust Him. If I couldn’t trust Him, then I would be calling into question His goodness. If the answer to the first question was yes, then the answer to the second question must also
be yes.
He was asking me to trust His ways rather than my own; to take my hands off so He could do His work, His way; to surrender to His goodness even if the outcome did not look anything like what I believed His will to be.
Trusting someone means I have placed my confidence in them. I feel safe and secure with them. Do I trust God enough to confide in Him and then leave it in His hands; to know whatever the outcome is, I can feel safe in Him; to know I don’t have to carry the burden or the care of it?
Psalm 37:3 NKJV
Trust in the Lord, and do good; dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness."
The Scriptures teach us that if we trust Him, we will do good. Is it possible, that doing good in the face of difficult circumstances, evil or injustice demonstrates our trust and activates our faith?
Doing good undeterred by disappointment and suffering becomes a powerful statement of faith that declares, “we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.”

While dwelling in this land we are instructed to feed on God’s faithfulness, which helps strengthen our trust in Him and activates our faith, especially when there are more questions than answers.
The power of testimony, sharing with each other the doings of God in our lives, speaks to His faithfulness and unchanging character. Holding to the truth of His word, looking for His hand in every circumstance no matter how difficult or painful, are ways we feed our spirits, reminding ourselves we can count on Him.
Can we take a moment to ask ourselves: How am I demonstrating my trust in the Lord? How am I feeding on His faithfulness? Although not always easy, am I declaring with confidence, “God is good and I can trust Him!”
